Lock and Dam 14

This was the end of a long but fun day we drove to locks 11,12, 13, and 14. It rained all day but I liked the effect it had on the photos. The drive to lock 13 and 14 was an adventure through Daniel Boone National Forest. If you like the back roads it a must trip. It was fitting to end the trip on the Sheltowee Trace. I felt like an explorer.

Kentucky River Development e-book.

It is my intension to add photos and information to this web site. If you have any suggestions or corrections please e-mail me. I have a collection of old photos I plan to post later. There is a lot of history and stories out there. The two books published by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District are a gift if you use the materials give them credit.

The Kentucky River history presented is taken from The Falls City Engineers, A History Of the Louisville District Corps of Engineers U S Army 1970-1983 printed 1984. The appendix covering the Kentucky River is contained on the link Lock History .

I have obtained more history to include in the web site. "Kentucky River Development: The Commonwealth's Waterway" is a book written by Leland R Johnson and Charles E. Parrish for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District.
