Lock 7 near Wilmore Kentucky is extremely interesting. It is the only lock on the Kentucky River that  has a hydroelectric generating power plant. There is a great spring water near the lock, take your empty milk jugs. High Bridge is near lock 7 and has an outstanding history. High Bridge History - WorldTimZone. Shakertown is across the river, and a paddlewheel boat has a tour that starts across the river, a 30 minute drive by car.  

Pat and I returned to lock 7 Sunday, 07/17/2008; the river was high and muddy. After visiting the lock and dam we launched our john boat at a boat ramp next to the lock. It cost $4. Link to some of the photos I took   and information about the Dix River
